Former Australian cricket captain Kim Hughes, his son Brad and friend Bruce Burns have just completed a weeks fishing on Christmas Island. The trio are Cocos Island regulars who were keen to see how we do things on our island.

The guys were greeted with strong winds, rough seas, slow fishing on the first couple of days, However as the week went on, both the weather and fishing improved greatly with plenty of big wahoo being the highlight. The boys even fished the morning of their flight home and experienced magic conditions with bait everywhere and non-stop wahoo action, truly a day to remember.

Brad in particular was keen on catching fish on stickbaits, and he was rewarded with several good GTs and a few small yellowfin. He did manage to hook up on a couple of big yellowfin on the cast-and-retrieve lures, but was unable to boat the fish before the sharks turned up.
